Israeli firm to go after Jamaica's water thieves

The Government of Jamaica is vowing to take strong action to stamp out revenue losses at the National Water Commission (NWC), announcing that an Israeli firm will be hired to target the loss of so-called "non-revenue" water.

Under agreement, the Israeli firm will be paid on the basis of results achieved, which, according to Water Minister Robert Pickersgill, makes it "an excellent contract."

The revenue recovery initiative will commence in the Corporate Area (Kingston & St. Andrew), Mr. Pickersgill told the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

He informed the House that the Israeli firm was "arguably the best in the world" in this area of revenue recovery, and is currently engaged in the Bahamas.
